5.36.010 Uninvited solicitation—Private residence.

The practice of going in and upon private residences in the city by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants, and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said private residences for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise and/or for the purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby prohibited, declared to be a nuisance and punishable as such as a misdemeanor. 5.36.020 Soliciting commission—Creation—Membership.

There is hereby established and created a soliciting commission for the city, consisting of three members. The chief of police and the city administrator shall be ex-officio members. The third member shall be a person nominated by the El Paso de Robles Chamber of Commerce and appointed by the city council to serve during the pleasure of the city council. 5.36.030 Soliciting commission—Authority to issue permits—Eligibility for permits.

The soliciting commission shall screen all applications of persons and firms mentioned in Section 5.36.010, who apply for a permit to solicit. The commission may grant a permit for not to exceed fifteen days, to solicit in this city. No permit shall be granted to any applicant except to those of good moral character soliciting on behalf of a qualified charitable agency, or youth, educational, civic, fraternal, or similar organization, and no permit shall be granted for any solicitation where any solicitor receives any financial remuneration for his services. 5.36.040 Penalty for violations.

Any person convicted of a violation of this chapter shall be fined in a sum not exceeding one hundred dollars or confined in the county jail of the County of San Luis Obispo for not exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. 121 N.S. § 2, 1947)
